For the past few days, my skin has been breaking out and I cannot figure out why - for the life of me. No, I haven’t been eating a lot of sugar and/or greasy foods (but, everyday is a cheat day, right?). No, it’s not “that lovely time of the month” (thank God). No, I do not put my iPhone all over my face while on the phone (nor do I clean my iPhone). No, I haven’t been stressing (but who knows, I’ve slept since then, and I’m designing a company website with deadlines).
As you get to know me, you will find out that I do not do well with blemishes/breakouts. And I think the word “pimple” is disgusting. However, thanking the beauty gods, blemishes can always (and will be!) covered. Am I weird, or does anyone else have to at least do their foundation routine, during breakouts, in hopes of being able to ignore touching the blemishes? Only me? Okay, thought so. Ladies, this isn’t a fitness or educational post by any means, but aside from healthy dieting and exercising, leave your skin the hell alone for the sake of it. This post is being typed at this very moment, due to the fact that I have this blemish on my neck, and instead of treating and masking it - I haven’t been able to leave it alone for three days. Tonight, I finally realized that I’m going to have to get to the bottom of this. My skincare regimen is going to become more important to me. The skin on my face is going to be my baby, therefore I will “nurture” it, and do things for my skin that I would only recommend to someone else. I promise I’m not as vein as this might sound… I’m not in love with my face. I just want my skin to look twenty-three… forever.
Below are some current favorite skincare products that I’ve been using daily:
❤ Neutrogena Pore Refining Daily Cleanser - I use this at night, twice, to remove my face of all makeup, dirt and excess oil. / $9
❤ L’Oreal Advanced Revitalift Anti-Wrinkle Cream Cleanser - This has been my favorite cleanser to use in the mornings, right after I wakeup. It goes on thicker than most cleansers, so I don’t like to use it to remove makeup. / $8
❤ St. Ives Invigorating Apricot Scrub - I use this three times a week, at most. This is, hands down, my favorite exfoliator! / $5
❤ L’Oreal Youth Code Texture Perfector Pore Vanisher - I use this before applying primer. For my skin type (oily/combo), primer has to be directly under my foundation to last throughout the day. / $25
❤ Josie Maran 100 Percent Pure Argan Oil Light - I use this oil for everything! Cuticles, split ends, around my eyes, mixed with a moisturizer - you get the idea! This has been my most favorite “all-purpose” oil thus far. / $50

Finding the perfect shade of nude, is like finding the perfect shade of red when it’s involving your lips. Believe it or not, finding your shade of choice can depend on a number of factors: skintone, color of teeth, natural lip color, eye/hair color, and the list goes on. Red was my goto color for Winter, but I’ve been a little indecisive when attempting to choose my color for the upcoming Spring/Summer seasons. I work a professional job, and come in contact with a majority of people working leadership positions. I want to stay away from “fun” colors while on the job. However, nude seems to be that "when in doubt" perfect color option.
After reading some drugstore reviews, I think I’m going to have to try L’Oreal Colour Riche Lipcolour in Fairest Nude. However, I want opinions! What’s your favorite nude lip color? Why? Does your favorite brand hold it’s color throughout the day?
Fitness must have done something for me in the past, because I’ve been missing it lately. I’ve been talking to the boyfriend about us needing to start going on evening runs again, and resorting to cooking all of our meals. I’ve learned that a healthy lifestyle definitely brings a happier lifestyle, too. It’s so easy to fall into bad habits, like eating fast-food on a regular basis, and not setting aside time (even if it’s only three times a week) for physical activity. I feel just like… blah as of lately, and I know it’s because of my lifestyle. I would be lying if I sat here and told you that I don’t have time to exercise and eat healthy. I will admit it: I do have time and I’m being lazy. The more blah I feel, the more I can feel myself gaining motivation to hit the treadmill.
Tomorrow, I’m going to start by drinking my daily dose of water (usually a gallon) and eating as clean as my pantry will allow me to. I want these habits to be a part of my lifestyle again. I’ve realized through past experience that I have to set realistic goals for myself, or I just won’t stick to them - point blank. I don’t like an overbearing diet and fitness regimen. I like to eat clean and stay active and that’s what gives me satisfaction, and makes me feel great.
